Husband and I stayed at Pestana Palace hotel on a weekend trip to Lisbon in March. We had a fantastic time, our room was large and comfortable and the property and gardens are lovely. Staff were polite and very friendly. Breakfast was very good, as was room service and the on-site restaurant (great gourmet experience for dinner!). The hotel is located in a quiet area that was perfect for us, as we needed some rest after a couple of busy/difficult months. Moving around was no problem as the area has good public transport links (bus). We would definitely stay at Pestana Palace again, just probably not during peak time, when the hotel is busiest. The walls do seem to be a bit thin - our neighbours next door arrived at 2.30am and woke us up, then they decided to keep the TV on all night (maybe a bad case of jet lag!) and we could clearly hear it, which made it difficult to go back to sleep. Better soundproofing would be the only improvement we'd suggest.

As we expected, this was an outstanding stay in an excellent hotel. It certainly is a 5 star experience - service throughout was impeccable, the hotel and very large grounds are beautiful, historic and memorable. We had breakfast every day - a very wide range of buffet and A La carte choices. Staff are always on hand to help - reception service was excellent, friendly , and extremely professional. We are English speaking, not a problem at all for the staff. Our room was perfect - it had a small patio table area in the garden. It may be a little small perhaps, but had all the facilities we expected and needed - and reflected our room rate via expedia which was very reasonable for this hotel. One caveat - its location is in an old residential neighbourhood - and obviously, as a real stately manor is some distance out of Lisbon - too far to walk, but about a 20 minute cab ride. Local transport is bus only - so you will rely on taxis - I advise using an online app service (To the centre of the city was around 5 Euros) - its definitely 'off the beaten track' . That said - we did walk to Belem and its attractions - this took about 45 mins and was very pleasant. The area around the palace is very walkable and has a few nice restaurants - but you are a far distance form the hustle of the city centre.

The palace is amazingly beautiful and yet the team working here made the stay even more enjoyable. Quiet and nicely located. Lush and wondering garden in the heart of a quaint neighborhood. An added bonus is the superb caramel machiatto hand crafted by Ruben!

The hotel has the main building as an historical palace, with most rooms in 2 buildings to its side, and wonderful gardens. We stayed in one of those buildings, with a spacious external terrace outlooking the gardens. The room was very comfortable, we had quality sleep. My wife had a wonderful massage at the spa. The indoor pool could have been a bit warmer, but I enjoyed an hour there. We had a cocktail at the bar, and a Valentine's day dinner, everything tasty, with wine pairings. The breakfast, which is included, is quite complete, a buffet style with a large variety. The staff is just amazing and friendly. A place to be, enjoy, and relax.
